Nutrition and Infertility – Is There a Link?

Caviarlieri | Published June 23, 2021

The link between nutrition and your health is indisputable. Finding those exact links can often be easy — the effect of your diet on diabetes is direct and plainly evident.

The connection to issues like infertility is less clear, but it doesn’t mean there isn’t one.

What is Infertility?

Infertility is the inability to get pregnant even after having frequent and unprotected sex for one year. Infertility can affect both men and women and is usually self-diagnosable by an inability to get pregnant. Some women may also have a menstrual cycle that is too long or too short, and having certain health problems like pelvic inflammatory disease or uterine fibroids that may predispose them towards being infertile.

Doctors can run many different kinds of tests to help determine what might be causing fertility problems for an individual or a couple. Transvaginal ultrasounds can help detect possible uterine abnormalities. Blood tests can look for abnormal hormone levels, and semen analysis can detect semen abnormalities in men that might be playing a role in infertility. Infertility treatments have been improving currently and many women may eventually be able to successfully conceive.

How Common is Infertility?

An estimated 15% of couples will have trouble conceiving. (Source: UCLA Health, 2020)

Globally, 48.5 million couples experience infertility. (Source: Reproductive Biological Endocrinology, 2015)

About 9% of men and 10% of women aged 15 to 44 reported infertility problems in the United States. (Source: CDC, 2013 and Office on Women’s Health, 2019)

Infertility Statistics Worldwide

9 of 10 countries with the highest total fertility rate are in Africa followed by Afghanistan. (Central Intelligence Agency, 2017)

Southern Europe, Eastern Europe, and Eastern Asia have the lowest fertility rates in the world with an average of 1.5 children per woman. (UNFPA, 2018)

1 in 4 couples in developing countries is affected by infertility. (WHO, 2004)

Behind Infertility

Infertility may result from an issue with either you or your partner, or a combination of factors that prevent pregnancy.

According to a research study, the following statistics (which were determined among couples who’ve tried to conceive over the course of a year of unprotected sex) are indicative of the causes of infertility:

  • In one-third of couples, the problem stems from the man
  • In another third, the issue lies with the woman
  • In the final third, fertility issues are caused by both the man and woman or for reasons unknown

Evaluating the cause of infertility can be complex and often frustrating and there may be multiple factors which can contribute to infertility for both men and women.

Risk Factors for Male and Female Infertility

Risk Factors for Male and Female Infertility

Many of the risk factors for both male and female infertility are the same. They include:

  1. Weight
One of the first ways that nutrition plays a role in fertility is that studies show your weight can play a role. In fact, the American Society of Reproductive Medicine reports that 12% of infertility cases in women are because they weigh too much or too little.

When a woman carries excess pounds, her body produces more estrogen, which can act as a sort of birth control. On the male side, obesity can affect sperm motility and sperm count and lead to male infertility.

Conversely, if a woman is underweight, it affects her reproductive health in some very serious ways, and she may not be ovulating properly or have the nutrients necessary for optimal egg development.
  2. Age
Women’s fertility gradually declines with age, especially in the mid-30s, and it drops rapidly after the age of 37. Infertility in older women is likely due to the lower number and the quality of eggs and can also be due to health problems that affect fertility. Men over age 40 may be less fertile than younger men.
  3. Tobacco Use
Smoking tobacco or marijuana by either partner may reduce the likelihood of pregnancy. Smoking also reduces the possible effectiveness of fertility treatment. Miscarriages are more frequent in women who smoke. Smoking can increase the risk of erectile dysfunction and a low sperm count in men.
  4. Alcohol Use
For women, there is no safe level of alcohol use during conception or pregnancy. Alcohol use may contribute to infertility. For men, heavy alcohol use can decrease the sperm count and motility.
  5. Limit Medications
Limit taking both prescription and non-prescription drugs. Talk with your doctor about any medications you take regularly, but do not stop taking prescription medications without medical advice.

Nutrition and Fertility

nutritional foods helps with infertility

When it comes to what you should and shouldn’t eat, a study conducted by Harvard Medical School revealed some interesting findings.

First, the usual health culprits like caffeine and alcohol appear not to affect fertility, as well as not-so-obvious foods and nutrients like vitamin D, soy, antioxidants, and dairy products.

What researchers did confirm, though, is that folic acid can play a valuable role in your ability to conceive and carry a child to term.

Going beyond folic acid, the fertility in both men and women appears to benefit from vitamin B12 and omega-3 fatty acids.

Not surprisingly, these researchers also discovered that people who ate healthy diets low in saturated fats and high in plant-based foods fared better when it comes to fertility.

The bottom line is that supplying the right balance of vitamins and nutrients to your body supports optimal function in all areas, including fertility.

Causes of Male Infertility

The World Health Organisation believes that male infertility is largely underestimated, and that infertility in general affects a significant portion of the world’s population.

There is a lack of accurate and consistent data across the globe, but scientists approximate that men are solely responsible for around 20-30% of infertility cases, and contribute to around 50% of cases overall.

Here are some of the most common conditions affecting male fertility.

Low sperm count

Doctors consider anything below 15 million sperm per millilitre of semen as an abnormally low sperm count. A low sperm count is also referred to as oligospermia. Low sperm count is diagnosed via semen analysis.

Low sperm count can be caused by genetics, oxidative stress, and other factors.

Azoospermia

Men with azoospermia have no sperm at all in their semen. This condition accounts for around 15% of all male infertility cases, and comes without any noticeable symptoms. Azoospermia will prevent you and your partner from conceiving naturally as there is no sperm present to fertilise your partner’s egg.

Caviarlieri – Swiss Caviar Cellular Therapy Food Supplement

Caviarlieri – Swiss Cellular Therapy Caviar Supplement

Caviarlieri is a powerful multi-faceted cellular therapy treatment system that is backed by Scientific research. It has several studies published in peer-reviewed journals and the benefit claims such as significant increase in energy levels(reduce chronic fatigue), mood elevation (alleviate depression) reduction in joint pain, enhancement of sleep quality, improving mental focus, improve sperm quality and spermatogenesis, reducing inflammation, control high blood pressure and supporting immune health are evidence based on research.

By providing essential nutrition at the cellular level, Caviarlieri triggers protein synthesis and stimulates our own body’s healing system to repair and renew our cells versus the damaged cells for optimal and improved health. By enhancing cellular renewal and repair against damaged cells, it will potentially help mitigate adverse symptoms and side effects and accelerate the recovery process.

Caviarlieri is formulated with potent bioactive peptides like Sturgeon Caviar DNA cellular extract and high quality marine peptides and marine collagen peptide which are extremely rich in nutrition and can be useful for those with a compromised immune system.

Manufactured using a proprietary Swiss cold extraction technology in Switzerland -Cellularix, its ingredients are kept “active” so that the chemical integrity and potency of the micro nutrients in the capsules are not destroyed or compromised. This will help optimize our absorption of the micro nutrients into the body and maximize the outcomes and results for improved health.

One of the key ingredients of Caviarlieri is Marine Collagen peptides. These peptides are known to modulate 3 key factors for effective immune response – Inflammation, Tissue Damage, Oxidative Stress. For people with a compromised or dysfunctional immune system, immune modulating is extremely vital.

The scientific studies on Caviarlieri published in peer reviewed journals have proven that it has powerful antioxidant properties which can potentially prevent damage to the immune cells by neutralizing free radicals. Free radicals are substances in the environment that can damage cells and reduce immunity. Supplementing our body with Caviarlieri can also help to increase the activation of cells involved in regulating our immunity.

In addition, the Caviarlieri is made of potent peptides which help to escort the nutrients into our cells for protein synthesis which is an important process to accelerate cellular renewal and repair versus damaged cells. If essential nutrition is provided at the cellular level, it will help to maintain or strengthen the functionality of our immune system, reduce oxidative stress and potentially provide cellular immunity.

Infertility is defined as the inability to achieve pregnancy after 1 year of regular unprotected sexual intercourse. The global prevalence of infertility varies between 2.5%–15%, correlating to at least 30 million infertile men worldwide. Male infertility accounts for about 40%.

Oxidative stress is a common pathology seen in approximately half of all infertile men. Oxidative stress occurs when the production of potentially destructive reactive oxygen species (ROS) exceeds the bodies own natural antioxidant defenses, resulting in cellular damage. First, they damage the sperm membrane, decreasing sperm motility and its ability to fuse with the oocyte. Second, ROS can alter the sperm DNA, resulting in the passage of defective paternal DNA on to the conceptus.

Why Caviarlieri

It is evident from this scientific study which is published in peer-reviewed journal that Caviarlieri can help to reduce oxidative stress and cellular damage to stimulate increase in sperm count and sperm viability. This study also shows that compared to an equivalent dosage of DHA, the Caviar DNA Extract in Caviarlieri can deliver better results and outcomes.

Sperm Count

Low sperm count means that the fluid (semen) you ejaculate during an orgasm contains fewer sperm than normal. Your sperm count is considered lower than normal if you have fewer than 15 million sperm per milliliter of semen.

Having a low sperm count decreases the odds that one of your sperms will fertilize your partner’s egg, resulting in pregnancy. It is often difficult to identify the cause of low sperm count.

effect of supplement with caviar DNA and DHA on sperm count

Significant Increase in Sperm Count

It is evident from the results of this study that the group of mice fed with 10 mg of Caviar DNA (Bioactive Caviar Marine Compound) from Caviarlieri showed a significant increase in Sperm Count (p < 0.05)compared to normal 10 mg of DHA (essential fatty acids) and also versus the group control.

Sperm Viability

Sperm viability refers to the percentage of live sperm in the semen sample. This is especially important to measure if sperm motility is low, to differentiate between live non-motile sperm and dead sperm. At least 58 percent of the sperm cells should be viable to be considered normal.

Significant Increase in Sperm Viability

The study shows with 10 mg of Caviar DNA (Bioactive Caviar Marine Compound) from Caviarlieri , there is significant increase in Sperm Viability, much better as compared to DHA. This is of particular relevance, since semen quality has been regarded as a fundamental biomarker of overall male health, according to Jensen et al. who conducted the very large Copenhagen Sperm Analysis Laboratory Study.

There may be many supplements or drugs which may have claims that they can help boost libido. But what is most important is to improve the overall health condition of an individual and the issues relating to libido and sexual desire and performance are improved and enhanced.

Caviarlieri’s most promising effect is the overall rejuvenation and regeneration of many aspects of the body. By providing nutrition at the cellular level, Caviarlieri can help to accelerate cellular repair and renewal against damaged cells, boosting cellular /sexual energy levels, elevate mood and promotes good sleep quality etc.

This was possible through the meticulous and advanced technological formulation of its premium ingredient – Caviar Cellular Extract. The formulation of these Bioactive ingredients are potent and allow it to deliver its maximum effect. As we age, the human body loses its vibrancy, lower energy levels and stamina. Caviarlieri delays these aging manifestations and enhances the restoration of one’s youthful vigour in all possible aspects.

Potent and effective nutrition with efficient delivery mechanism can definitely contribute to enhancement in libido and sexual satisfaction.

Caviarlieri’s premium key ingredients have been studied and proven to have certain benefits to these problems:

  • A deficiency of Selenium in the body plays a part in reducing libido. The right supplementation of Selenium will assist in improving one’s drive. Caviarlieri’s key ingredients of Caviar Cellular DNA extracts, marine peptides and also selenium can help reduce oxidative stress and remove free radicals. Due to its strong antioxidant properties, this caviar supplement can help to prevent sperm damage as well.
  • Another synergistic ingredient of Caviarlieri is Coenzyme Q10. CoQ10 increases blood flow to dilating blood vessels. An erection cannot be achieved if the blood flow is not strong enough. CoQ10 also helps to preserve nitric oxide levels. Nitric oxide is important in achieving an erection and maintaining it since an increase in its levels naturally occur during arousal to stimulate sexual potency.

In addition to Caviarlieri supplementation, there are many natural measures to improve one’s sex life which includes changes in lifestyle habits, reduction of stress, taking care of one’s mental health and regular check-ups specially with testosterone and other hormonal levels.

Caviarlieri is backed by Science
